Guwahati, Assam Saraighat Bridge the first railway cum road bridge built over river Brahmaputra is a marvelous piece of structure standing still today. It was built in between 1958-1962 with a budget of 10.5 crores. This bridge is most important link of country as it connects entire northeast to rest of India. It was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. It's one end start from Amingaon (North Guwahati) and next end in Jalukbari. It's total length is 1492m. It takes about 2hrs 52min to reach from the village Kalitakuchi (Assam), on the bike. It lies in the Baksa district, Assam. It is a fascinating region covered with stones located at the mouth of Barnadi. It lies between the foothills of two ranges near the borders. The Bogamati spot is a natural gift with a panoramic view of the mountain and a stretch of land beside Barnadi river which originates from the slopes of Bhutan flowing through the two sides of the hills. The thick forests and bushes grow together circling the area. It is a famous picnic spot for locals and travellers.
